Another line of home subwoofers owned by the Klipsch Group, Jamo subwoofers incorporate Klipsch technology but are manufactured for audio enthusiasts with tighter budgets. As a result, the Jamo SUB 300 trades quality for affordability to some extent and it isn't quite as powerful as the other Klipsch subwoofers that we reviewed. If you’re looking for home subwoofers with more features and versatility, check out the reviews of the BIC F-12 and the Emotiva Ultra Sub 10.

The Jamo SUB 300 has a similar frequency response to the Klipsch Sub-10, except it can reach 150Hz compared with 120Hz for the Sub-10. The SUB 300 has a total range of 28Hz - 150Hz with a crossover range of 40Hz - 200Hz that is controlled by a rotary dial on the back of the sub. Its built-in BASH amplifier is capable of producing a peak power output of 300 watts with a continuous power output of 150 watts. The maximum volume level is roughly 100 decibels, which is slightly less than the top home subwoofers that we reviewed.

The Jamo SUB 300 home subwoofers have a down-firing, 10-inch woofer housed in a cabinet with a unique slotted port design that routes air through the inner chamber and pushes it out of a slot in the back. The woofer is powered by a BASH amplifier that is equipped with a limiter to protect the amp and woofer from damaging signal peaks.
This home subwoofer’s cabinet is much deeper than it is tall or wide and rests on short legs that provide a zone for the woofer’s output to reverberate off the floor and fill the room with deep, rich bass. It is available in three attractive finishes: black ash, dark apple and golden maple.

The SUB 300’s unique design supports high-fidelity musical applications, though its down-firing woofer also provides room-shaking low-end sound effects as part of a home theater system. The SUB 300 Jamo home subwoofers have slightly fewer features than some of the other powered subwoofers in our lineup, but the variable phase control dial offers greater control over the phase setting than subwoofer speakers that have only switch that toggles between zero or 180 degrees, which essentially just reverses the polarity of the subwoofer’s phase. The other dial controls the crossover frequency, which can be set anywhere between 40Hz and 200Hz to achieve the most fluid integration with your stereo system. The front-mounted volume control provides easy access for quick adjustments.

The SUB 300 has a signal-sensing automatic on-off setting that puts the sub into standby mode when it is not in use. There are three ways to connect the SUB 300 to your audio-video receiver: a single LFE line input, a stereo RCA line input and two stereo speaker-level inputs. It also has a left and right channel RCA output to connect it to other powered subwoofer speakers for greater bass impact.

Jamo covers the SUB 300 home subwoofers with a two-year warranty for the electronic components and a seven-year warranty on all other parts. They also provide a FAQs page and owner manuals on their website, and you can contact their technical support team by either phone or email. They responded quickly to the email we sent, although they didn’t really answer our questions.

Summary:

The Jamo SUB 300 is designed well and it is available in three finishes. Despite its strengths, you may want to compare it with the other products that ranked higher among the best home subwoofers.
